Chapter History

Twenty-three college-educated, professional women who matriculated from Western Illinois University sought to perpetuate the traditions and ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. These women, who were all initiated through the Omicron Kappa Chapter, shared a passion and desire to improve the quality of life for the residents of Richton Park, Illinois. This desire led to the formation of Tau Alpha Zeta Chapter (TAZ) on March 30, 2003.

Since it's inception, TAZ has collaborated with a variety of community-based organizations in the Richton Park community and beyond. The programs and collaborations offered to reflect our commitment to our organizations' national programs and partnerships. These efforts also showcase our desire to promote community health, economic empowerment, and educational excellence!

Some of our annual programs include:

* Stork's Nest

Community-based, prenatal health program for low-income pregnant women.

* Feed Richton Park

A service project in conjunction with the Village of Richton Park.

* Annual Scholarship Fashion Show

A fashion show highlighting up and coming local designers while raising funds for our high school and college scholarship program.

*Adoption of a Women's Center

Providing educational workshops and needed resources.

*Donations and Services for Veterans
